NERDIST NEWS
Back in 2013 Sam Webber and I collaborated with Director Andrew Bowser to design the show package for the Nerdist's YouTube show Nerdist News. The gang at Nerdist were awesome to work with and this project would kick off a long lasting relationship with the team.  We designed and animated a series of Main On Titles, dynamic Lower Thirds, and Bookends for the team.
Bowser was looking for something bold and punchy to refresh the channel, so Sam and I sought to bring strong graphic elements that ride along with the namesake's iconic logo.  We'd pair the bold graphics with sci-fi and fantasy collages that hint to the fandom locales like, Planet Hoth, Post-Apocalyptic New York, The Outer Rim, Middle Earth, etc.  That way the Nerdist team could switch up the Main On Titles dynamically depending on the ever-changing trends of the Nerdiverse

Photo-bashing these 2.5D landscapes was fun, but it took a little extra "umph!" to bring the whole look together.  Sam and I developed a series of FUI inspired micro-animations that we would "paint" onto our scenes.  These elements served us well in iteration and would be essential in the future when we approached new projects like the Team Nerdist miniseries.  We are, after-all, UI/UX Designers by trade so this was a sweet way to bring in our own personal style.

In the end we had a blast collaborating together. Much respect to the Nerdist team and a big shout out to my hometown homey Bowser for making this all possible.
