Evergreen Mist - Andrew Claflin 2017
This piece was done in tandem with Sumac Haze which recently sold...Same style of mixing oil, acrylic, solvents, fire along with scraping the painting with wire brushes.  I should mention the backstory of my initial mindset.  Up in northern MN near Dear River, a friend of mine has a cabin and the morning walks down in the wetlands are surreal.  That haze, the mist and fog as it rolled up against the trees that leaned out over the shores across the bay.  That morning light filled with the yellowed reeds, the soft glow of sunlight as it floods the foliage and dew.  I miss those mornings up there and always look forward to going back again.

Mixed media piece roughly 17.25 square.  On wood , framed in black cedar showing wood grain.
