OGRADELADA/ workshop GRADIONICA/ Zadar

GRADINOCA is a 2 days workshop that was held in city of Zadar, Croatia. The aim of the workshop is to raise public awareness of public urban spaces, and one of these areas is a former city barracks. The barracks area holds the arg surface and is located in the center of the city, close to the old city core and as such is an important part of the city. Barracks are mostly abandoned but some function as certain public institutions or occupied by certain social groups (skaters, squats ...). However, the fencing of the area is the main problem of this location which makes it inaccessible for citizens which makes them ramble from it.
This work recognizes two marginal microlocations that are differnt from other part of barracs by volume and function. They try to connect them with other parts, fill them with content, solve certain functional problems, and domesticate specific space devastation. The fence that represents the problem of the location becomes a material for making the necessary elements. Fance, as in-situ material, is used for designing from urbanism to product design. The elements are painted in vibrant dark-red colors that is one of the protective colors of the city. This is temporary solution before making the main plans for this area which makes it cheap option for city and also allowing citizens to use it and interpret as they feel.
