Heron is the second part of a series in my latest project, "Pacific Spirits", which seeks to highlight native animals from the Pacific Northwest region of North America-- my home. I find that through working on this series, I am not only getting to appreciate the animals from where I grew up, but I am also allowing myself to get in touch with my Native American ancestry. Most, if not all of the animals in this series were(and still are) highly regarded and sacred to the First Nation people of the Pacific Northwest. I wish to honor that through these pieces.
