This was a prototype database project created for a medical device startup, RF Surgical Systems. It was meant to allow our customers to access the data gathered by our devices and generate reports.
With input from my manager, I designed the look and feel of the login page and landing page, the arrangement of elements on each "blade" (window), and graphical icons for the landing page and elements on the "blades". I made sure that the look of the interface matched our company colors and branding, and that our vendor received art files in the correct file formats and sizes.
It was a great learning experience that taught me how to communicate our vision to programmers, to work around their technical constraints, and to think about usability and intuitiveness of a design.
Above are the icons for the landing page buttons, and below are the icons for each type of scanning device, and the icons for sorting and flagging records. I designed all of these from scratch and made them consistent with our brand guidelines.
A glimpse of how the database looked at the very beginning, before we started working with the vendor. Suffice to say, we came a long way from this iteration.
