A CONCEPT FOR AN ISLAND AIRPORT
University work for a conceptual proposal for an airport located on a small island. The project calls for the modernization of the Caticlan Airport, the main gateway to the island of Caticlan and of Boracay, a popular tourist destination. The airport as the welcoming feature of this beautiful beach aims to show the rich biodiversity that thrives within its ecology.
Concept Board
Spaces were designed with both the tourists and the locals in mind. The culture of the locals is embodied in the plan as spaces were allocated for families, friends, and well-wishers of the travelers within the building, as opposed to having the spaces outside.
Perspective
The structure both in plan and form mimics a creature that lives in the depths of the sea.
It appears to be a bioluminescent animal having spheres of light glowing at night.
