RANDOLPH ENTRYWAY BENCH, 2014
Proposal

Wyatt Arnold of Schwartz and Architecture asked me to design an entryway bench for a residential client of theirs. The bench also had to double as a guardrail for the adjacent, elevated living space. There was interest in incorporating bent lamination in a design that needed to be both highly functional and decorative. After looking at a number of patterns that could be fabricated using a bent lamination technique we arrived at a horizontal, asymmetric design that allowed for a seamless transition of the bench back into an open railing. At the conclusion of the design phase the client decided not to proceed with the project.
