‘The Hyper Reading Book’ is an experimental publication featuring the concepts of this reading process. Hyper reading is defined as “reader-directed, screen-based, computer assisted reading” (Sosnoski, 1999), (Hawisher & Selfe, 1999). Instead of the traditional and linear close reading practice we are all familiar with, this book aims at following the key principles of this unconventional reading process, which focuses on aiding the reader’s eye movement, attention, and provide high levels of stimulation and interactivity while reading.
My experimental publication shows how these hyper reading processes are being translated into the physical form. These strategies are applied to the short story “The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling, with the whole text being read in a singular format. At first glance, the page is seen as unreadable. Utilizing another tool, the words are being revealed, showing the process behind it, and emphasizing the characteristic of this reading culture, where the reading enlists technological aid to enhance their reading comprehension.
This book aims to comment on this reading culture, showing how hyper readers accepts information through these unconventional, sporadic, and fast-pace reading practices.
