New World Textiles
North Carolina Weaver and Textile Designer

Eileen Hallman fell in love with cotton, Gandhi style, spinning it, weaving it, teaching about it and researching new ways to develop handwoven cotton fabrics.

"I'm obsessed with cotton, the charkha, and khadi; I develop cotton-rich blends for spinning fiber and yarn and sell those to handspinners and handweavers. I also use them myself, spinning, then weaving with my handspun singles to engineer shaped fabrics. I also dye silk and cotton with natural dyes and am exploring the concept of layering woven shibori. I teach charkha spinning, weaving with singles for collapse and stretchy fabrics, and dyeing cotton with natural dyes.I'm obsessed with cotton, the charkha, and khadi; I develop cotton-rich blends for spinning fiber and yarn and sell those to handspinners and handweavers.
