Perceptual Shift!
             -the light installation.
The concept of the design was INTERACTIVE.
Interactive art involves the spectator in a way that allows the art to achieve its purpose.
Interactive art involving an illusion.

A walk through at the installation with UV lights on.

The final concept theme we came up with was to create experience of  walking in the forest using a single tree. To create that we fragmented the tree into different layers. The bulbs and branches are suspended at different levels giving the 3-D look but from the front angle it forms a 2-D image of the tree.  The bulbs form the leaves of the tree. The bulbs contain green highlighter water to give the feel of the leaves. At a particular angle you see the bulb and branch forming a tree.
The spectator needs to interact with the design; he/she needs to move around the installation to see the branches converging to form the bark of the tree and the bulbs forming the leaves at a particular angle.
For the sustainable part of the design, the materials we used are 120 fused incandescent bulbs. Highlighter water was filled inside the bulbs. Highlighter water glows in blue / UV lights. We used two LED lights in the whole installation to light up the other fused bulb. The message conveyed through our installation is how LED bulbs are more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs and “save energy save nature”.
