TEKHNE-LOGY
The word technology derives from the Greek word Tekhne which means Art or Craft. It has evolved into a word that we use for a systematic methodology and the interaction with modern machines. Our interaction with technology plays an important role in our lives, more than ever before. (...) You are to design and fabricate an item of jewellery which is inspired by an aspect of your relationship with technology. Consider how you use technology and how closely it interacts with your life. my response.
My relation with technology is mostly based on using it as a tool of communication with people and keeping the memories. Some years ago, not that far in time, people used printed versions of pictures. Nowadays, this form is in use as well but most of the memories are stored in a digital version. In this project, I wanted to relate to the tradition but with the focus on the modern. I have created the silver neckpiece in a form of a pen-drive case. It looks back to the tradition of wearing the locket pendants with a picture of a family member or a lover hidden inside. My version can keep anything the wearer decides to save on the USB stick.
