Youth Pavilion 2015

The Cloud was a 14x20 meter temporary installation designed to serve as the Youth Pavilion at the Hungarian Cultural Days of Cluj-Napoca. Situated near the Unirii Square, the primary purpose of the Cloud was to house a wide array of events – from theatrical ones to small workshops.

Flexibility was a key design aspect which we achieved by designing a simple wooden structure composed of columns and beams with curtains hanging down in the form of circles. These curtains made it possible to define small, intimate spaces by closing them or to create continuous open ones for larger events. The roof was a simple layer of the same textile used for the curtains, placed on top of the grid created by the beams. The actual building of the pavilion itself was also an important part of the project, done by the design team and a group of volunteers.
