TINYPONICS

Tinyponics is an online distributor of indoor, aquaponic growing kits for small spaces.

WHAT IS AQUAPONICS?

Aquaponics is a cyclical system for farming fish and plants in a way that benefits both. Fish produce waste, which is great fertilizer for the plants. The plants eat the fertilizer while purifying the water (which is great for fish).

THE PROBLEM

Aquaponics saves energy, space and the cost of living. However, current systems (like the one pictured above) are way too large to fit in a home and are unattractive to display. It is extremely crucial that younger generations practice sustainability. Tinyponics intends to aim towards these generations with it’s trendy, bright and playful feel.

THE PRODUCT

In order to brand this company, I needed a physical object to sell. From there, I would decide which direction I wanted to head in terms of its visuals. I sketched out what I had in mind and handed off my design to an industrial designer, Jordan Steranka, where he was able to create several prototypes.

WEB DESIGN

The brand needed to be translated into a functioning website where one can learn more about Tinyponics, including instructions on how to set the system up as well as a shopping page where one can select a color of choice for their tank. Above are a few highlights of the website I coded using HTML, CSS and JQuery. To view the live site, visit http://myweb.students.wwu.edu/~quesnek/dsgn360/project-2/
