Re-designing the Trash Compactor

Trash Compactor
The project began with a simple inspiration from the dirty, overflowing trash can. I began by looking into trash compactors, which are used currently in large-scale trash sites. I started off by researching and identifying what were people's patterns of behaviors with trash cans, and tried to apply my findings to the concept.
From the research, I was able to identify two major behavior patterns that influenced my design concept: pushing down trash and re-using grocery plastic bags. With all the data collected, the design concept was finalized.
This was the CAD model of the first design concept. The design wasn't fully refined, but wanted to show basic concepts of the trash compactor design.
The lid's material and the handle design was re-designed later.
The trash compactor has 3 parts: the main body, outer shell for lid, and the compactor part. First the bag would be inserted into the slots, then the bag is covered by the outer shell.
When the can is filled, the compactor part's handle rises, indicating the user to push the compactor down in order to push down trash.
