Transitions (2017)

Transitions focuses on a narrative created through audio and traditional/nontraditional representations of sound. The audio itself contains a vague narrative --footsteps, a bag being packed and zipped, paper fluttering beside an open window, and an eerily silent dinner. The code ends with static and a hollow, high pitched whine that continues for infinity instead if restarting. For me, the audio represents the transition of a person leaving (perhaps a relationship or to begin a new life) and the emptiness and permanence that comes with making that type of decision. This is why the code does not repeat on its own, it reflects the perpetuity of certain decisions and transitions.
In many ways, this code serves as an experiment with working with sound through Processing. I plan to develop this project by adding additional narratives and utilizing different but equally evocative audio recordings.
