A simple flat design that folds into a backpack which can unfold and fold back again. The design exploration was initially inspired by a banana. In particular, I was fascinated by its flimsy, yet rigid exterior structure. After all, the purpose of the banana’s peel is similar to the purpose of a backpack – to protect what is inside. The design does not seek to simply copy the motion of peeling a banana and paste it onto a backpack. Rather, my curiosity ultimately led me to question and explore the possibilities when it comes to constructing the main body of a container-of-things such as a backpack.
