“An artist may be influenced by the works of other artists. Artist may use exact copy of the techniques or even the image, but work is combined with original elements, which the artist contributes himself.
The influences may take the form of borrowing themes, technical methods. So the artist adapts the duplicated material to fit the needs of the new work”.

A chance meeting of the two artists - Andrey Prakhov and Andrey Parakhin in 2014 was a start of their collaboration culminated in the art project "Metamorphosis". The project idea came from the intention of the authors to compare their perceptions of the same objects and phenomena, to make associative improvisation on their subjective impressions.
The project reflexes on our endless imagination using transformation of photo abstraction into figurative image (painting, collage). Andrey Parakhin is using the idea of photo being transformed into abstract image which may or may not include an object. Andrey Prakhov is analysing these photo abstractions and reflexes his own feelings and impressions about the photographs. Andrey Prakhov is borrowing composition of photographs, but puts them to the different context, using his own unique experience with the original artwork.
The idea of appropriation is used by both artists to show how the work of one artist is perceived by the other bringing it to new media and time of making the artwork. Andrey Prakhov is extensively borrowing images from history, literature, folklore, "classics" of contemporary art - they work as symbols, as a universal language for creating new meanings and conveying the ideas.
