Experiential Design | connect the dot book

Experiential Design

The aim of this project is to design a simulation of what I felt while experiencing being deaf for a week.  This design’s intended purpose is not to design for the impairments of being deaf, but to design my personal experience and making the feelings I felt tangible for users. I simulated a deaf experience for a week with earplugs and a white noise application on my phone. During this period I felt like I couldn't keep up with those who could "happened to me socially.hear" around me. Others spoke too fast, assuming I could read their lips and I felt disconnected from everything that

I designed a magazine that would function as a connect the dot book. However, the dots wouldn't be connected by numbers, the dots would be connected by colours. The harder each level gets the more frustrated the user feels when connecting the dots, this design experience emulates the feeling of frustration that I felt when simulating my very own deaf experience. The definition of the word Asunder means: into parts (torn asunder)", this name links directly to the loss of bits and pieces of information deaf people experience on a daily basis when communicating with non-deaf individuals.

The dots can be connected, even if it takes longer and is done in a different way. This action represents my experience of being deaf for a weak; I could still partake in every activity I normally would but had to deal with certain tasks differently. It is a visual metaphor for being differently-abled, not disabled.
This booklet would be placed in coffee shops. Free WiFi would be given to customers when they complete 3 levels of the Asunder book. This nudges the users to interact with the design.
This design comes with 3D glasses that make connecting the dots with colour harder when the user reaches the harder levels of the booklet. 3D glasses make it harder to see red and green colours.
Thank you for checking out this projety, don't forget to appreciate this project.
