Poster : Cult Movie

Poster Design :  Cult Movie
The brief for this project asked us to make a poster for an unmade cult movie. The storyline, actors, etc was completely up to us. I have always been a fan of Nick Cave so when I read an article in The Times which read 'Every morning Nick Cave puts on his suit, kisses his wife goodbye and steps into a cupboard. He steps out of the cupboard for lunch, then again at 6pm, when his working day is over. He likes ritual.' I loved the imagery that this conjured, I imagined him sitting in the darkness, squeezed into a small old wardrobe, similar to that in The lion, the witch and the wardrobe, in his trademark suit. In my minds eye he sat in front of a small desk with room for only his typewriter,  and a single bulb hanging low over the table. The idea that this was ritualistic seemed fitting to a man that is known and loved for his mystery.
Cave, with his dark hair and eyes which broodingly peer out from beneath thick busy eyebrows is instantly recognisable. I wanted to bring his 'image' back to basics and see how much could I remove, while still ensuring recognition. His wife Susie Bick, discernible in her own right, is just as striking with her vampish style.
