The University of Bologna, in collaboration with RAM (Research and Analysis Manuscripts) and The University of Massachusetts Boston,

organized a two-week intensive summer course dedicated to the history of handwriting and of the book in the West culture, from the ancient to the contemporary word.

As an institutional project the design had to be clean and easy to read. Since the programme includes the evolution of letterforms from historical manuscripts until the modern age I decided to use the type Verdana, one of the most spread for desktop computers in the digital era, which still has his roots in humanistic calligraphy.
