A Good Education
is something which is necessary for
All the People in Rural Areas
I was just scrolling through my road trip Memories yesterday, and I encountered this memorable picture of me and my friends visiting a small government school in a village, at Wayanad District, Kerala and felt like sharing the experience of our visit.
While we were arriving down the hill after our trek, we happened to notice a small government primary school were an open public project exhibition was organised, by the school kids. We decided to give a visit at their exhibition to see the life of those kids studying hard in that school.
When we initially arrived, the first thing that I noticed was the resourcefulness. Class bells were made from small hammers, tied to thick metal trays, small pillows attached to blackboards by a string to create erasers, plastic chairs with bended legs and a small wooden table for the teacher where the chalk dust settles upon every time.
Students of primary section (2nd - 5th std.) organised vinatge man-made collection of crafts which were used at the time of World War 1. Among all the exhibitors, a small adorable kid gave an explanation describing his project. Though I didn't understand anything what he was telling as he was speaking in kannada but I couldn't stop him, as he was so determined in his part. And we listened to him till the end where he felt so happy after completing his big job. Hahaha..
Regardless of the poverty they encountered at home, every young student was clad in a blue and white uniform. Despite this scarcity, these students thrive when given the opportunity. The bright (and adorable) students were always enthusiastic and show a competitive spirit that shined through the dimly-lit classrooms.
This visit made me perceive a side of life which I could never imagine. India is a complex country with a variety of cultures and traditions. To lead in tomorrow’s world, it needs something or someone to help it achieve its vast potential – a good education is something which is necessary for all the people in rural areas.
