The Odyssey and The Iliad
The brief is to redesign the publications “The Odyssey” and “The Iliad”, a classic attributed to Homer in the 8th Century BC and written in the format of an ancient Greek epic poem.
The concept for the publications is the journey: Odyssey’s voyage home represented by sea and Iliad raging war represented by blood for love. It is in the format of poetry coffee table book. The publications are designed to be modernized and light-hearted tone, which is represented by the choice of fonts, usage of bright flat colours and the illustration style. The publications are also designed as interactive to engage the readers. When removed the die-cut dust jacket, it will reveal the cover which is the events happening in each publication. The choice of hardcover is to represent Odyssey’s bravery and determination. Bookmarks are added to add in the interactive and conceptual element.
Both publications are self-sewn and self-bind from scratch.
