For my winter session course Design Fiction, we were asked to make props for a sci-fi fantasy setting. I decided to make retro-futuristic communicators that come in several color schemes. Each communicator was casted in two pieces, hand painted and attached using epoxy. The original pieces were hand sculpted out of Sculpey.

Each one was painted to loosely imply its origins. As seen in the photo below, the origins, from left to right, are Forest, Space and Desert.

Through this project, I explored methods of sculpting, casting, and color design. I hoped that through the details and colors, one would be able to infer an abstract story from the objects by simply observing them.

Original Sculpey pieces and rubber molds. The Sculpey pieces were over-baked in the oven for rigidity during casting, thus the discoloration.
