When I started working with Klectik in 2009, it had released three 12"s with artwork and a logo designed by an in-house designer at their distribution company. Label head Jason Patrick was looking to have more input on the process without abandoning the brand that was already in place. I worked establish the visual style of the label suggested by the original two releases, designing each following release (the most recent is the label's 18th) as well as a number of fliers and marketing materials for parties and nights created by the label's artists. I also worked to re-create the imprint's logo, inherited from the original designer, by building it from the ground up as a more iconic and flexible logotype and symbol.
A lot of Klectik's style comes from Jason's selection of stock images. Often he'll find something he likes, and let me run with it, cutting it up, moving it around, it, until it matches our vision for the release.
