Animation

An inherently ephemeral technique, modified base animation exists as a record of a singular performance. Each frame displays a moment lost to the physical world. My medium, clay, also has its own material memory. Squish it or stroke it, and your fingers leave an impression. I composed this animation around the intro to Claude Debussy's "Clair de Lune." Modified base animation proved to be a liberating technique -- because there was no going back to fix a previously-shot frame, I was forced to embrace my mistakes.
