I directed and animated this short documentary for the Southern Environmental Law Center this past summer through their film fellowship program, Southern Exposure. Throughout the year, this and a suite of related documentaries will be screened across Alabama in hopes of improving public awareness of and compassion for environmental issues affecting the state. Herald of the Sea focuses on oysters and how the BP oil spill continues to impact them today. While the media often presents the spill as a tragic but resolved incident, it's important to recognize that its repercussions still extend indefinitely throughout geographical space, bodies, and time.
