Cuba 2017 - Printmaking

CUBA
January 2017

These prints were created at the ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte) during RISD's Winter Session travel course in Cuba. Each work responds to specific traits of life in the capital city of Havana.
Havana, along with countless cities in Cuba, exhibits an unparalleled degree of innovation through the repurposing of old objects and appliances. This custom, along with a thorough integration of sustainable agricultural practices, makes this country a prime example for establishing environmentally-conscious systems within contemporary society.
The challenging economic conditions in Cuba make it indispensable for people to partake in a variety of jobs. As a result, certified professionals in all fields are often found struggling to provide enough for themselves and their families.
