For my boyfriends birthday I decided to surprise him with a trip to rome. I wanted a creative way to break the news to him, do decided to design a piece of art that would explain the present to him, but also be something that we could keep. I used the pen tool on Adobe illustrator to create these line drawings, showing the Colosseum and centurions. I tried them in a variety of different colours, but in the end decided to go with the colours of the Italian flag: green, white and red. To go with the style of the furniture in our room, I decided to create the piece on a black background. This also made the colours stand out nicely against the background, which was something that I felt important. Once printed and framed, this was a lovely gift that we have displayed at home to remind us of a memorable trip.
