How to Clean Your Bike Chain
Bike riding can be your favorite hobby. You may have the best hybrid bikes. So you need to take care of your bike. At first, you need to know how you can take care of your bike. You should clean your bike chain and lube them. In this article, we describe the method of cleaning a bike chain.
Items You Need
1. Degreaser
2. Clean rags
3. Cog brush or old toothbrush
4. Garden hose and water
5. Chain cleaning device
Step 1:
He chain is the most important part of your bike. Road gunk can attack your lube chain and make it dirty. There are many kinds of safe degreasers and chain cleaning devices on the market.

Step 2:
The easiest way to clean your bike chain is to wipe the links with a rag dampened in biodegradable solvent. Do it until the dirt goes away. Clean the both sides of the chain.

Step 3:
Use a little degreaser and a rag or brush to scrub the jockey wheels. Then clean the sprockets. A little degreaser can be used if it's really filthy. Clean the large chain-ring and the inside of the small chain-ring with a rag. When the chain is clean, wiping off the excess solvent.

Step 4:
Remove the rear wheel. Dampen a rag with solvent and slip it between two cogs of the cassette. Then repeat with each pair of cogs until they’re clean.

Step 5:
If you clean all the above parts, rinse them off with water to ensure the degreaser won’t contaminate the lube. Use the gentle flow of water.

Step 6:
Use a soft rag to wipe the chain to clean it and remove the water. Try to massage the links, moving them through as wide a range of movement as possible. It helps expose the sections of link that are normally hidden from view.

Step 7:
It is time to apply lubricants on your chain. We prefer to lube the chain as little as possible. Use a dripper bottle because it’s easier to apply accurately. That’s where lube is most useful, not on the outside plates. Wipe excess lube away with a clean rag.

Step 8:
Lube the jockey wheels at the point they spin. These little wheels attract a lot of dirt, and with lube being sticky. So use a little lube here.

Step 9:
Now unclip the cables. Give the entire inner cable a wipe over with a section of rag soaked in degreaser. Most dry cables can be reinvigorated with a little light chain lube.

Every few months, completely remove your chain using a chain-removal tool. Brush it properly and use some chain solvents to remove the dirt completely. Dry the entire chain using a clean rag. Make sure that the solvent has completely evaporated, then re-lubricate the chain and re-install.

Make your bike chain clean in proper way. It increases your bike’s life time.
