Project: Type Compositions
The objective of this project was to exclusively use typography in service of a message.
The first goal was to find a specific concept to serve as the overriding backbone of the project. I chose the "Gestalt Principles" and then researched, and selected brief pieces of text based on this concept.
The assignment consisted in creating eight -or more- compositions, one for each quotation, using only type. No photographs or nontypographical illustrations were allowed. The color palette requirement was to include only black and white, plus a maximum of one additional color -if needed.-
I focused on the appropriate font choice, shapes of characters, weight, style, position, alignments, contrast, and scale, to convey the corresponding theme and mood expressed in each piece of text.
