TIME AS IMMERSIVE VISUALISATION

Data visualization has a long history of being very academic or being something that exports use. I was interested in seeing how it can be used as a medium both expressive and immersive.
I developed on the same (Time as experience) creating an experience by giving data a tangible form. Precisely, I put forward a 3 dimensional structure of a Facebook profile to show an individual’s connection with people in the virtual world by means of just one social media in the span of one year.
To study one profile to replicate, I took up my own profile and started from jotting data on paper (images, videos, links shared and tagged).
Proceeding on the application of the same with materials where the output is an abstract structure using nylon threads and woolen threads. The nylon threads to depict months and the woolen ones to show one’s connection with people on each picture, video, links, shared or posted.
The combination of all created a constellation of data, adding to the aesthetics of the structure. Deciding on these materials had been a conscious thought because material for any structure plays an important role and for this, the materials conveyed the delicacy of personal data that individually form a part of a number of narratives in the Internet world.
The result of this was to purely create an experience that would remain in every individual’s mind. It was to show people how their profile would also look when tied, knotted and stringed.
Aimed to emphasize on experiencing things differently and precisely rather than just accessing this social media effortlessly in the hustle of our lives on a daily basis.

It was to put forward in true sense, Time as Experience.
