Mechanism: A Study in Hand Made Gears

The images above show how the gears were created. First, a circle was scribed into a sheet of aluminum. Second, indentations where made in an equidistant fashion along the perimeter of the circle. Third, the indentations where indexed and punched. The gears were then cut out by bisecting each hole. This process was repeated to make six gears.
The gears were assembled in order to exert a high torque gear ratio. By the time the mechanism was fully assembled, the pin wheel had a much higher rotational speed than the input gear required. This can be seen in the video below.
