50 YEARS - 50 WORKS EXHIBITION

50 Years - 50 Works Exhibition
OF MEXICAN CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE
This travelling exhibition anthologized 50 Mexican contemporaryarchitectural works made over 50 years, from 1955 to 2005, and it was part ofthe Festival of the Arts 2006 of Municipality of Baruta in Caracas.
The venue, a corridor of the Faculty of Architecture andUrbanism of the Universidad Central de Venezuela that leads to workshops and lecturetheaters on the ground floor, was great for showcasing the banners provided, but lacked of appropriate lighting for the exhibit. In addition, the very lowbudget and the one-week time frame to set up the exhibition were two main constrains.
By taking advantage of the format, translucence andlightness of the banners, these were assembled to each other as prismaticelements and suspended from the ceiling right below the existing lightingfixtures. Fluorescent tube bulbs and blue spots directed the floor were hidden insidethese elements for a backlight effect, so they worked as big pendant lamps.
Occasionally, these prisms were gently twirled by the light breeze, which enhanced a sense of lightness to the whole exhibition.
