Trip to London
Whitehall Gardens (own photograph)
This February I took the opportunity to visit London to celebrate my 21st birthday. It was the first time I have been to London in years, and I feel like it was the first time really 'seeing' the city.

Its a place know for bringing different cultures together, but for me it was a place where the old and new collide, without any structure or logic. This city literally shows the passing of time, through its architecture and culture.

While in London I visited the Tower of London. Walking around around the castle that dates back to the medieval times I was transported back in time, surrounded by history. Standing on the walls of the Tower gave a spectacular view of London. The view across the Thames showed a completely different world to the one you're standing in, the Shard towering over London looks like something out of a Sci-Fi film.

The old and the new coming together in London, makes me realise you do not have to replace the old with the new but both can work side by side and sometimes together. This can be related to my own work in ceramics as I have a strong desire to bring together studio pottery techniques, mass production and newer technologies such as CAD and rapid prototyping.
