Queens Boulevard is known as the Boulevard of Death due to its enormous width and large volume of traffic.  Apart from the lurid reputation, this six-mile roadway is also one of the main arteries in Queens Borough that connects various diverse neighborhoods and it often appears in popular culture.

This design transforms the roadway into a much safer corridor by providing a wide pedestrian mall, two directional bike lanes within the mall, shorter crossings, bus lanes that level with the sidewalks and eliminating private vehicles lanes to four (two on each side).
Allees of linden trees give the boulevard’s constantly developing elevational transects a much stronger identity. The visual grandeur continues between nodes, which are the large gathering spaces that spread out along the boulevard. Mini-allees of ginkgo trees register the public transportation stops.
