Imbue - Wearable Technology Brand for Arthritis

IMBUE

Brief:
Changing lives through wearable technology.
A project exploring the benefits of wearable technology to aid physical or mental ailments experienced by the elderly.

Solution:
My solution to this brief was to create a brand selling arthritic splint rings to help those suffering from Arthritis. Arthritis is a disease which mostly affects women and can cause severe pain, discomfort and limited mobility in the affected joints; the hands being one of the most affected areas.
These rings would be embedded with pain relief and movement technology, allowing the patient to release pain relief into the effected joint via infared technology. A movement tracker would then monitor the affects of the pain relief on movement of the joint.
Focusing on brand values such as delicate and gentle I created this brand identity and packaging. The pattern and typeface were inspired by bone scans of arthritic joints which are made up of lots of tiny dots. Where the arthritis is present and more inflamed, usually in the joints, the
dots are more dense. Hence, the dots on the packaging and typeface are increased in the joints
and creases.

An app was also created to allow the user to tailor the pain relief they receive at different points of the day. The app would then set up a routine of this so that the elderly patient only need set the levels once, knowing that they need more pain relief in the morning for example.
