Master copy of Chinese painter Chen Rong(ca. 1200-1266)'s Nine Dragons. Charcoal was used to both recreate and challenge the characteristics of traditional ink. This scroll depicts the tale of Ne Zha who heroically saved people from all-mighty but atrocious Chinese dragons. Therefore, Dragons' images and the meanings of their power are reestablished and challenged.
