Reinterpretation of Korean Traditional Art
2016 visual design project course development
For the theme, I selected 'Self-Portrait of Yun Du-seo'
A famous Korean painting made around late 17th century.
Widely known for its strong straight stare and liveliness of the intricate beard-depiction.
I very much liked the painting because of the numerous lines of beard that tumbles every way,
making it seem like the portrait itself is extending towards the viewer, eventually giving a three-dimensional(solid) effect
I reinterpreted the painting by repetition/modification/emphasis of the beard, the line.
