HAVC-H403 Rococo Rocks
Instructor: Dr. Pascale Rihouet
The patterns on these stenciled wallpaper or interior designs were inspired by both the eighteenth-century French Rococo and conventional Japanese motifs, employing and reinterpreting distinct traditional motifs from a personal and contemporary perspective. The curvilinear Rococo patterns characterized by the acanthus leaves interact and resonate with the Japanese crest and floral designs. Layers of gouache focus on the play of color to establish depth within a two dimensional surface.
