Quilt Title: C41 H64 O13

C41 H64 O13

This quilt chronicled 18 months of life in a clinical drug trial. There was much hope that it would provide "Life Changing Medicine".

The design of the quilt is based on the molecular structure of Mepolizumab, a monoclonal antibody.

The construction was a roller coaster, like the trial. It began as a life size paper pieced pattern and quickly morphed to other construction methods. It features a double-sided binding, paper piecing and hexagon construction.

CO-DESIGNING

This quilt was inspired by the CO-DESIGNING  “spirit” of Medicine X .

The images were appliqued at equal distance and height to represent a sense of equal value and respect, in patient centred design.

My life as an ePatient stemmed from my refusal to accept subpar care and “ that nothing else can be done".

I am an active participant in research and learning all that I can about  my disease, treatment options and phenotyping.  I aspire to  connect patients  in clinical trials to each other.

RESPIRATORY SITUATION
This quilt was inspired by a chest x-ray ( yes, my own), that was pixilated, and then reconstructed from an array of 1 inch cotton squares.

Thank You!

"Collaborate" – Is a progressive quilt that was created at Mid-Atlantic MOD quilting retreat as a group activity.. We were each provided with some of the background fabrics blue/green low volume and instructed to select a "verb" that describes us as Quilters/ Makers and bring that word pieced as a block of sorts. Words were improved pieced when possible. The palette for the words was prescribed as "brights". The top was pieced and the design elements came together organically and refined through discussion.

It was "graffiti quilted" to represent the many styles and spirit of the Makers.
