To illustrate the state of the human relationship with time, we chose to make a comparison between the way simple minded, task driven creatures -- such as bees -- perceive time and the way humans do. We have created three segments of the life of the beehive: the beginning, the height, the eventual collapse. Alternatively one could see these as past, present, and future. These moments in time are fragmented for bees. They don’t have the capability to think beyond the present, so they work relentlessly and never worry about the eventual collapse of their hive. We strung together these three sections with filament, representing how humans see time: people are bound to always connect the past, present, and future.
