Scott Frank, owner and winemaker, was clear right away on how Bow & Arrow was going to operate. His most fitting analogy was that the business would be like an independent record label, and every vintage was an album release from our favorite band. Because we'd lack the constraints that major labels had, we didn't have to play by the same rules as the big commercial outfits. We could do whatever we want, within our indie-sized budget. He handed over a copy of Our Band Could Be Your Life and noted how much it informed how he worked in the wine industry. This thinking has shaped the working relationship and every label we've made over the years.
