Aquarium Installations

Laboratory Glass
Task description: creating glass installations by glassblowing and ‘sticks’ with laboratory glass techniques fitting to a 25x25x25 cm aquarium. We had to think in an exhibition situation, without professional aquarium equipment.
We had to think about making it functional so that the objects are more than fish swimming through them. My aim was to design an environment where the animals would feel good and be able to stay for a longer period of time.
Handblown Glass
The less sensitive aquarium animals include snails, which play a cleaning role and bring color to the aquarium’s life. Often they climb on the glass wall of the aquarium, or are hidden under the leaves of aquatic plants. One goal was to design alternative places to climb. Because I prefer multi-functional items we have created installations that are suitable for organizing plants, besides offering climbing opportunities to the snails. The blown part of the 3 piece installation is configured to hide fish cohabiting with the snails, or to simply swim through them. The three elements can be used - separately, they are also movable.
