Buck was created to pay homage to my late grandfather, and serve as a space for his barware I acquired when he passed away. His bar, located in his garage, was a proud source of entertainment and perhaps a bit of a shrine for his two, mint-condition 1955 Ford Thunderbirds. My inspiration for the cabinet's design materialized from memories of sitting at the bar, making a mess with discarded pistachio shells, and distressing my grandfather if we got within 5 feet of his cherished automobiles. The powder coated metal references shiny car bodies, the door pulls are reminiscent of Thunderbird headlamps, while the pistachios gave me the perfect image to print on the drawer lining. These memories were instrumental in the evolution of my aesthetic and design direction in that they produced a piece that paved the way for a substantial stage of my work as an artist.
