BLAST.
Blast magazine revival, 2017

Thirty-three days prior to the outbreak of World War One marks the initial release of Blast, a literary magazine relating to the Vorticist movement. Unfortunately, the war would cut short both Blast and the Vorticist movement. What it left behind, however, were the first signs of modern layout, merging typography and imagery in ways that would revolutionize design.

Inspired by the story and impact of the magazine, I present to you my re-imagining of Blast using Digital publishing as the medium. With the ever increasing effects of globalization afforded by the internet, I have changed the focus to showcase foreign film. With the aim to increase interest and awareness on film that would previously not have been available. This issue pays homage to Akira Kurosawa, one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema.
