When I first started at Mixed Media Information Ltd, one of their house websites (A building supplier directory) had a lot of functionality but a lot of the areas didn't link or flow as well as they could do. Throughout my time there I was able to play around with the CMS (Joomla) and began to work out ways to automate a lot of the content so that it would appear in relevant categories.

To bring the site's aesthetics inline with modern trends and styles, I found a more suitable background image, and edited the CSS to fix the position (Making it scroll with the screen). The images on the slider were still placeholders from the original creation of the site, so I mocked up a new style and chose content from the live-client profiles to drive traffic to different areas of the site. (See above).
The previous news feed would have to be replicated from content by hand into separate articles in order to appear in that section. After a lot of tinkering with the K2 module I was able to get the desired effect though it wasn't appearing as neatly as I'd hoped. Through a little research and trial & error I was able to modify the PHP of the page to add some style choices, this allowed the feed to automatically update with current content as it was uploaded to other areas of the site.
The Supplier section of the site was a little difficult and inefficient when it came to adding or updating content, coupled with this, the Navigation to find the suppliers felt cluttered and unclear. The previous system required multiple files to be made in order to complete the entire Supplier profile. After some tweaking of the modules and a fair amount of PHP editing I was eventually able to streamline the profile editor resulting in all the information being put into one location and the profile displayed in the correct order, adding social media links to the page depending on the Supplier's preferences.
