Double Hairpin Table & Bench Legs
A more refined take on the classic, and versatile, hairpin leg. Two legs on one unit makes these ideal for tables or benches with a skinnier profile. The addition of the third support really stiffens these up so the bouncing you can get from traditional hairpin legs is minimized.
The repetitious angled forms, mixed with vertical members give this a unique look and practical form.
This particular cedar beam was reclaimed from a renovation project I came across on my daily walk to my shop. Luckily it is extremely light weight and it cleaned up marvelously.
There is something magical about the end grain of wood. It tells a story of a life, written year after year.
The simple metal base can be screwed down to almost any top.
This version uses the same form, but different material to achieve a different purpose. Using half as thick rod, and a stiffer stainless steel, makes this low weight bearing coffee table much lighter in overall appearance.
The top for this was made from the re-reclaimed off cuts of old growth timbers. After the outer patina layer was harvested, I used a strip construction method to utilize as much of the wood as possible.
Showcasing the beauty and practicality of the stainless steel, I left the powder coat off the feet.
