Home Sweet Home

Growing up as a child of immigrants, I often wished for my house to resemble a perfect American home. It was an ideal world that I had built in my imagination, stemming from American home decor magazines, visits to friend's homes and reading Little House on the Prairie. My idea of "false shelter" is still confusing to me. I'll try to convey it here: being in living spaces that have been imposed upon the individual, homes that don't quite fit, modular, nomadic. This piece is an exploration of a lot of personal feelings and memories about growing up in a Chinese-American home that can't quite be described.
