Artist Residency: Council on Aging
For an artist residency class, I spent time with the members of the Council on Aging in St. Augustine, FL over the course of a semester. One of the most often and some member's favorite activities was playing dominoes. I decided to base an artwork for the COA from these domino game I enjoyed with the members. This would give the COA a piece of art to hang there that the members made by playing some games of dominoes. This creates a real product of their time spent playing and a memorable artwork there that was made by them. I photographed each round and stamped it on the page later so the game was not interrupted and everyone stamping in real time onto a paper was not ideal. The physical stamping did not mean as much as the time spent because the artwork is a reflection of the time there and connections made.
