PETRONAS was the biggest account at McCanns Erickson Malaysia.

This was the first advert I did for the PETRONAS account. With the obvious presence of the PETRONAS Towers in Kuala Lumpur this was a massive account to work in Malaysia.

This celebratory advert was effectively a slap on their own back, especially as it was the first time in 10 years a Malaysian driver had won the FIM World Motorcycle Championship Grand Prix; adding an extra eye catching dynamic to the achievement for a motor crazy Malaysian audience. 

Despite its triumphant tone, it was important to make sure the tone did not come across as egocentric due to Malaysian cultural norms and also because of the Mitsubishi brand position. So I directed the tone to be more about Hafizh, the malaysian driver, and the choice of third person was employed to make it feel less self congratulatory. 

The colour of the font and on the poster is the PETRONAS brand colour, and the grey was used to give a head-nod to the core product of PETRONAS (oil and gas).
